Theropoda

Theropoda (n.): order of dinosaurs, Modern Latin, from Greek elements ther- "beast" + podos genitive of pous "foot," from PIE root *ped- (1) "a foot" (see foot (n.)). So called because the structure of the feet resembled quadrupeds rather than birds. Related: Theropod.
